All
of our waste paper is discarded in barrels that are picked up
and recycled locally.

|
Fix from our
film chemistry is collected and brought to the Cowlitz County
Dept. of Public Works Solid Waste Division operating under the
State of Washington's Small Quantity Generator Hazardous Waste
Collection guidelines. (It is illegal to dump fix down drains.
Fix is classified as a "heavy metal" because of the
silver it removes from lithographic film.)

Even though
our inks are made with a soy base and do not contain petroleum
or lead, they cannot be discarded in the trash. Waste ink is
brought to the Cowlitz County Solid Waste Division where
it is sent on to be converted into hog fuel.

Our digital
polyester printing plates are disposable after use, and contain
no hazardous materials.
|
 |
Our
metal printing plates are made of aluminum and are designed
to last up to 100,000 impressions before they wear out. When
they can no longer be used for printing, an aluminum recycler
collects them and they go on to be made into other aluminum
products.
